Wayne Rooney: Chasing Records

Wayne Rooney looks like a reformed man this year, certainly seems to be enjoying his football in the English Premier League as well as for his country. Having scored 13 goals and now being captain for his club Manchester United as well as country. And also not to forget a few records that he is chasing to break them and make him an all time great.

The past few years Wayne Rooney has not been really getting much on the score sheet as much as he and the rest of the Manchester United and England fans wanted too. Of course with him in the past years hardly playing the role of a striker his actual and desired role he was more used as a utility player, playing midfield in the wings and central rarely getting to play up front for both club and country. Yes of course with Manchester United playing horrendous last season he had no option but to play in those positions and help out his team and similar for the country also he was asked to support Daniel Sturridge up front rather than getting support from the England midfield to play upfront.

But this season he is playing where he is supposed to be playing that is the role of a striker for both club and country and he is certainly relishing it. Well may be he his is a man on a mission, he is so close to breaking Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton's record of England all time top scorer and becoming the all time top scorer for his country. In all honesty the match against Lithuania the Euro 2016 qualifier he could have scored a hatrick and drawn level with Sir Bobby Charlton's record but unfortunately he scored one goal and hit the wood work twice. making him two shy of Sir Bobby Charlton and one shy of Gary Linekar who has scored 48 goals for England. Wayne Rooney truly deserves to be England's all time goal scorer cause he is always working hard on the pitch, always trying to score and provide for his team mates just like the record holder himself the legend Sir Bobby Charlton. He made his International senior debut in February 2003 almost 12 years back and he still continues to play regularly for the three lions, with over a hundred caps for the national side in his kitty.

Talking about chasing records it's not just the national side record he is after, he is also interested in the records to be broken domestically. Only being 20 goals shy of beating none other than United Legend Sir Bobby Charlton's club record of 249 goals. Wayne is with 229 club goals. It seems that Wayne will eventually catch up to that record and soon break it. Also in the all time Premier League goal scorers Wayne is third in the list with 184 goals three shy of another Manchester United great Andy Cole and plenty far behind leader and English great Alan Shearer.

Well as they say, records are meant to be broken and Wayne Rooney is certainly on course to break them. It's only a matter of time you will read in the newspapers of Rooney's exploits.
